Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

That’s the one. My nan always told me that if we kept it alive our finances would be fine. I think the fact that it’s just about hanging on in there is a perfect reflection of our monetary position.

This cactus has been on our window sill for so many years that no--one can remember how we came to have it. For the first time, two years ago, it produced a single flower. A cynic said that was its swan-song. Last year, it spent thinking about its options. This year it produced another flower on my birthday. I love the way the flower has to force its way through its spiny defences.

There are *at least* 100 houseplants here. I'll have to take some photos.

Quite a lot of those 100+ are succulents and are only a few cms across.

This is two Strelitzia Reginae, I sowed the seeds of these around the time my youngest son was born, in January 2000. In October 2018, they finally flowered.
