Do sorry Dipps that sounds stressful. Shall we sign up for Pilgrim? Even if it doesn't work out they get some money for charity. TM - at least you didn't put your phone through the washing machine like I did last week. |

I signed up as you can walk it too I am still a work in process but I’m walking 8 miles plus regularly now Enjoyed the fact there is no chip timing but they’d like you to estimate how long you’ll take to the second |

Liebling is very tempted to do the half but has promised me she will slow down if she feels faint! But for me? Marathon or half? Hmmm? |

Morning! just catching up before trying to go back to sleep since I'm on nights as of tonight. Hope C9's test is negative Dipps. Don't you have to stay isolated even if it is though? pain in the bum! TeeBee, no that's true. Have a feeling new phone would be less costly financially, but more stressful all round! The month's about to get a whole lot more expensive anyway... it seems holiday is on, to be confirmed Monday, so will need to stock up on holiday stuff and maybe buy some clothes that fit! |

I don’t think so TM none of us have symptoms so if she doesn’t have it then I can go back to shopping. Im not bubbling with anyone and am keeping a 2m distance just because mrS is higher risk. I’m not sure if we’ll all get a test which will make it simpler and at least I can then ensure I do mine properly

Continuing the trip down the US west coast …. It’s a driving day today, 150 miles from Arcata to Mendocino. But the road takes a more inland route and follows the Eel River through ac couple of sequoia forests / parks – Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Avenue of the Giants, The only things to the west on this bit, so I am told, is more of that herbal agriculture and the US style back woods protection. So I’ll stick to driving through the trees – very literally today. The last miles are back to the coast. And a supposedly spectacular Glass Beach, near Fort Bragg (pop 7287). The history is horrifying, but fascinating. In 1906, Fort Bragg residents established an official water dump site behind the Union Lumber Company onto what is now known as "Site 1". Most water-fronted communities had water dump sites discarding glass, appliances, and even vehicles. Locals referred to it as "The Dumps." Fires were often lit using Molotov Cocktails to reduce the size of the trash pile. When the original dump site filled up in 1943, the site was moved to what is now known as "Site 2", the active dump site from 1943 until 1949. When this beach became full in 1949, the dump was moved north to what is now known as "Glass Beach", which remained an active dump site until 1967. There are three Glass Beach sites in Fort Bragg where trash was dumped into the ocean between 1906 and 1967. Site Two (1943-1949) and Three (1949–1967 - "Glass Beach") About 1,000 to 1,200 tourists visit Fort Bragg's glass beaches each day in the summer. Most collect some glass. Because of this and also because of natural factors (wave action is constantly grinding down the glass), the glass is slowly diminishing. There is currently a movement to replenish the beaches with discarded glass. And then to Mendocino (pop 824), Although 826 tonight and tomorrow, if we were really there. And this time, our airbnb, looks more like a converted garage, not a shed. Although it does have the attraction of an ‘outside shower’. Can’t wait after a day in the car. airbnb.co.uk |
