They also let people walk around, pick stems and sell them for flower arrangements and sell small drinks and snacks, there is a kids play area there too. I think they are making more for charity on that than the worth of the seed. It’s an amazing sight and lovely to be able to walk through them all

My tallest are sevenish - a couple of them have moved into a large pot together, sharing a big pole, for a last push. Still little sign of flowering. Found a large snail on the back of a leaf - at about sux foot high! I was outraged.

4. Disasters are to be posted so we can all laugh/commiserate/laugh at them

5. All forms of growing aids are allowed. There's no drug testing in this competition so if you find the Lance Armstrong of Sunflowers - grow it and win !

6. Bigleggy always wins ;-)

7. As the national flower of Ukraine is the Sunflower, the Russian Giant variety is banned.
