Years ago, I did weird finger exercises that involved getting used to tucking the thumb under every finger. When you get used to it, it becomes second nature.
I've spent the last couple of hours wondering what video Lizzie W was referring to. Only just realised that I've got lots of video of SPR playing the piano!
It can help with the tucking under if you lift your elbow and rotate your hand to the left.
Have to admit the whole Marvel thing has rather passed me by - so didn't recognise the piece.
I think Hanon is a bit like strength and conditioning training or stretching - you know it's going to make you a better runner, but sometimes you just want to go for a run.
No idea what Hanon is, but I always find the good old fashioned scales and arpeggios a decent warm up. And I'm sure I did those exercises that Garfield mentioned too.
Jam night with the Miss J's (younger daughter on drums and smartphone, older daughter out of shot singing and bossing us around, me struggling with far too many black notes in the piano part). Still not sure what a twinkling machine is.
