Been to the NEC today and popped into the hobbycraft show and seeing for pleasure.

I may have bought a beginners tatting kit (with a bobbin) picked up some free patterns and got some beads but I totally resisted buying more yarn and fat quarters (proud smug face)

You're really getting sucked into the crafty stuff now, aren't you, EP? My Mum taught me to tat, but sadly it's a bit like crochet for me, I quite enjoy the process, but don't really like the end product as much as knitting or bobbin lace.

How Pix?

My theory is it's about how you turn your work-always turning the same way Will twist, you have to go back and forth.

I rarely get twisted yarn but not sure how I turn!

Twist the yarn round your little finger then hold the needle with your thumb and hold the yarn up with the next finger. Use this finger to work the yarn. My tension was tighter but it worked! Very slow to start with. First few stitches each row was awkward but improved as I went. Apparently as I get used to it then I'll get quicker too

That's pretty much what I do. I don't understand how that stops twisting. What were you doing before, just picking it up each time?

I used to have my yarn just through the hand so it balled in my palm and twisted.

I forgot to ask about purl but trying now with the yarn anchored round my pinky has kept the yarn free
