Is it the one that is called "bridal wreath" - S. Arguta? Lose all of its leaves in autumn and they're just starting to come back now? My neighbour's one of those is flowering now.

I don't know; I've looked up Spirea in a (rather old) Encyclopedia of Garden Plants, and although it looks like the picture of spirea arguta, the text says it flowers late April or early May, and where I am things flower later rather than earlier (bluebells only just coming into flower now, for example). There's a spirea thunbergii which flowers March to April, apparently.

I think many things here are a good bit earlier than normal due to the warm, sunny weather we've had in late March & April - is it the same in Mid-Wales? The one you mentioned definitely flowers earlier though.

Rosehip
Some much-needed rain falling on Rosehip's patch this morning and it's quite chilly too, so I thought I'd try carrots in loo-roll cores again.

I've put them in a big poly' bag and tucked them away in a corner to get on with it and then hopefully they can be planted out cardboard an' all, either in a bed or a container once they've got going.

If it works I'll sow some more in a few weeks
gingers crossed.

Today's other jobs have been pricking out/potting on tomato plants - I seem to have too many (as per usual) and I've sown 4 courgette seeds - and 4 plants is probably 2 too many...

In my experience, 2 plants gets you 2 courgettes, and 3 plants gets you about 200.

I'm doomed Cerrertonia if I manage to keep the three courgette plants alive.

Fragile Do Not Bend
I’ve sown 12 courgette seeds. 😅 In my defence, one of the varieties says sow by 2019, so I did 6 of each in case the older seeds don’t germinate. They’ll probably all come up now I’ve done that.

I found a packet of tomato seeds with 2015 on them I’d forgotten I had, sowed 6 (so I thought) and 8 plants came up.

Last year I sowed a packet of out-of-date flower seeds in a seed tray, and the only thing that came up was a silver birch sapling. I so admired its effrontery that I potted it on, and am hoping to find someone to adopt it.

A friend posted on Facebook recently that they had tomato seeds from 199x germinating fine - always worth a go if it's what you have
