Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Why do I struggle to get dill seeds to germinate, yet self sown ones from last year’s plants are popping up all over the place? At least they seem to be happy being transplanted to where I want them.

If self-sown seeds germinate, they're probably happy where they are, and may be left there unless you've got more than you want (evening primroses, in my garden) or they're somewhere which is really inconveniencing you.

I’m the sort of person who doesn’t like things in random places in the veg beds, for no rational reason :)

Moved the raised bed from the front to the back today. Now we need more shrubs for the front... The veg bed will be random as Mr W and T9 didn't label what the sowed...

I'm going to plant some of my bits into containers tomorrow at lunchtime. Two of my courgettes are getting big enough to be migrated along with the two sweetcorn plants that came up. I wonder how big the beets should get before I move them into something bigger.

First cut of back lawn, 3/4 of which didn't actually need it. But the rest was scraggy. Second cut of front lawn was Friday, 16 days after first. Normally the cuttings would be lush and heavy, but they are light and very dry. I've also been edging the front lawn, not just at the path but at the hedge. I'm wondering if this attention to detail is a sign of some kind of incipient breakdown? Er, lol. I hope.

Though I may need to leave it a day or two as I'm developing hardpad on my palms and verging on a blister on my shearing finger.

Hmm, the verge outside my house (between hedge and pavement) - not sure that anyone will be along for that at the moment. The mower is still out, so ...
