At Rydal he's around 4.5 hours behind his schedule and 9 hours in front of James. The current prediction of 19.04 at Kirkstone would put him around 11 hours in front of James. Some of that will unwind when he stops at Kentmere but broadly speaking as he approaches half way in time for a 5 day round it's still looking feasible and that any completion is likely to make a huge dint in the existing record.

It’s useful having the k markers on the tracker to see how he’s progressing against the FKT trophy. Looking at it I reckon he will get half way, unless the wheels fall off, we’ll before 22:00. That’s nicely under 5 days.
Can he maintain it for another 2 1/2 days?

interesting - he has obviously decided that doing 2 there and backs to pick up first Hartsop Dodd and then Grey Crag is quicker than all the additional descent and ascent (basically an additional 2km over the planned route but without a descent of about 400m and then a similar ascent the other side): actually, I don't blame him!

If anyone is wondering, he's doing an out and back to Hartsop Dodd rather than dropping down to Pasture Beck, so should pick up Stony Cove Pike on the return leg.

That's a worry if he missed the summit on the way out, as he's cutting the corner on the way back..........

Hell yes. Let's hope the tracker missed a beat there, I can't imagine his support would take him to the wrong summit.

You'd think so.........although.......maybe the only way that Sabs thinks she can keep the record is by sabotaging JK's attempt

The tracker position is only marked on the map every x minutes. For the Fellsman on Saturday it was every 5. AFAIK it is to reduce the amount of data that displaying the map requires but I believe the actual data collected by the tracker is more frequent. There would appear to be an algorithm that handles the out and back sections to tops pretty well but when there is a tight turn the route trace gets caught out. You can see the issue where the route twists and turns. Such as round Castlerigg.
