Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I thought it was curious that John took that line to LMF. It’s certainly the most direct - I’ve done it myself when Birkett bagging - but is it not private land? I was under the impression that Sabrina is a wee bit puritanical about sticking to ROWs and access land, hence the detour via Ulcat Row. Saying all that, as FF has noted she’s already commented positively on his progress so she’s either mellowed on that or is being a bit disingenuous.

But as Paul has since admitted he took too much rest and given his position in the pecking order that's a bit like the bloke who's 10 minutes behind the leaders running faster splits than the leaders at 23 miles in a marathon. John is racing Sabs not Paul. And every leg he does quicker than her at this point further cements his lead over her.

I had the same thoughts NE. But I know after some of her previous comments on the routes round there Steve B (very much a local) was quite vocal on what was and wasn't OK and he didn't necessarily agree with her!

The other thing we should always note is that the OT doesn't necessarily reflect what John planned. It is often just their best guess in the absence of explicit information.

ff - do you know, roughly speaking, how will JK's total resting time compare to what Sabs took ?

Only that he’s been taking more but moving faster according to an analysis I found on Facebook (fellrunning group I think)

I’m not sure what it’s like in the northern fells, but Eskdale is a bit damp right now.

Sounds great Dave. I am likewise sitting outside with a glass of summat in my unworthy paw.

So as John is heading into (hopefully for him) the last night of his pretty awesome adventure he is currently nearly 15 hours ahead of James and 9 or 10 hours behind his own schedule. If he can stay on his feet the question now is largely about by how much? Any bets?
