Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

What's making you smile today?

During a cycle ride along a lane, a buzzard flew down from a tree and glided along just in front of me for about thirty metres before changing course into a field.

A solitary member of the dawn chorus giving it all they had this morning. First time I’ve heard it this year.

This is a narrowish road, quite busy. The Broxtowe Council van is parked completely blocking the pavement, so i had to run in the road to get by.
Now the good bit.

The driver was across the road in the car park for the school and St Georges park behind it. He was writing down the numbers of cars that were parked there to see if they had exceeded the allowed parking time.
I asked him why he was blocking the pavement, he said he had to park somewhere. There were places in the car park where he could have stopped.

I asked him if he could let me have a parking ticket form so that i could put it on his van. No reply.

Tempted to send the pic to the council, but there are worse things going on in the world.
