The persecution of hen harriers makes me really fucking angry and I'm not sorry for swearing. Every time I see one it takes my breath away and makes me want to cry with excitement and joy  Thanks for posting PPleP

If you need any more reasons to write, recent news of yet another sat tagged golden eagle that has gone missing in Strathbraan, a grouse moor and a notorious area for raptor persecution. This follows on from the news of a white-tailed eagle found poisoned on a grouse moor in Deeside - another area notorious for raptor persecution. This despite these birds having full protection in law for 70-odd years. Like KS, we should all be absolutely incandescent that organised criminals continue to shoot, poison and trap birds that belong to all of us. I often see a heron or two in these fields - but I've never seen 6 together before I believe it's called a siege of herons? |

That just reminded me of the Herons at Muncaster Castle, they perch in trees in the grounds and are regularly fed. These pics are from a couple of different visits, you might need to zoom in to the tree to spot them. Quite apt that they're laying siege to the castle!! |

Some human beings are b******* when it comes to wildlife. Song Thrush singing loudly yesterday for the first time in a few weeks. Winter thrushes probably setting their routes about now! |
