Took a very scenic route home from the lakes today - Stopped in Hawes, lots of swifts screaming over the museum car park. Then we had a quick stop at Harlow Carr and spent 10 minutes watching a rook taking cans from the bin, and shaking them to get the dregs out to drink. Didn't know birds enjoyed larger or cola!

HowFar?
A stoat just made an appearance in the front yard. It nipped into the bush, next to the fate post, then popped its head out and looked at me for a while. Then it took itself off, staying right next to the wall the whole time. Even where the wall takes a short right and left turn, it kept beside it, rather than stray into the open for a couple of yards to cut off the corner.

I saw what I think is a young grebe on our weir today, never, ever seen grebes round there before and strange that it was on it's own.
