It's strange how the eggs look white on night vision when they are very brown by daylight

There's four eggs in the Leamington Peregrine nest too That was a long catch up of posts - some good sightings.... We heard the Whitethroat over on the Wedge on our walk the other day; I was just saying to Dave I wondered when it would be back (there's been a pair there for the last couple of years) and then it sang.... we got the bird app out to check! Bird activity is really picking up round here Garden birds are very busy.... |

The birdsong on my morning walk was really lovely this morning the robins and blue tits are almost ignoring me in the garden as they make themselves very busy. The skylarks are even more noticeable now the A1 is much quieter. I love this time of year, I'm very grateful to be able to enjoy it at the moment. |

Went to make a cup of tea. Whilst the kettle was boiling i saw a Jay and a Green Woodpecker digging up the nuts that the squirrels had buried. The Jay flew off to be replaced by a second Woodpecker. One flew into our oak tree and started pecking at the bark. It then got spooked by a first for me, a tree creeper landing on the same tree. The kettle then boiled. Not a bad 2 minutes.

Not as socially pleasing as a squirrel, but quite cute when he (or she or it) picks up the seeds. But not a bird. He seems to co-exist with the pigeon, both ignoring each other. This is under the generic bird feeder after the jackdaws have attacked it and left the lawn covered in seeds. It also couldn't care less about me, until I break the 2m rule. 'Nearly' got a great shot of a skylark today, but by the time I'd turned the camera on & changed the exposure settings, it had gone from 20ft above me to about 60ft into the sun. Will try & remember for the field to have the camera ready next time as I start. |
