Fragile Do Not Bend
I get mine from the RSPB, probably not the cheapest but at least it’s going to a worthy cause.

DT, envying you your dippers - one of my favourites. They're not a bird of East Anglia's slow flowing rivers, unfortunately.

Siskin on the feeder again this morning. Just the one again, which is a bit odd. They normally come in flocks. Perhaps this one is a bit anti-social, or just prefers the company of goldfinches.

Never seen as dipper, I live in hope as I keep seeing pictures of local ones.

fantastic stroll around the Great Orme today, loads of pairs of beautiful fulmars (didnt get spat on!), a hunting sparrowhawk (I think, was a bit quick), a beautiful hovering kestrel, a couple of seals and a pod(is that the right word?) of dolphins making their way along the coast, beautiful sight.

bonners, park yourself by a fast flowing river or large stream, at a point where there are lots of rocks or stones projecting from the water, and wait a while. You're very likely to see one or two come by. I can sense when I'm in a dippery place.

Having been an angler for a very similar length of time to that as a bird-watcher I’ve also developed a kind of sixth-sense re dippers

I think I’ve posted here before about my ever-changing list of favourite birds. The dipper never changes and has been on the list since the day I first saw one - ‘walking’ underwater in the River Lathkill in the Peak back in the 80’s

Dippers are one of my favourites too as I’ve seen them in most of my favourite places. Plus their white eyelids are just awesome!

I know someone else who frequents this thread who might like dippers.... 😉

Yes, I think a dipper stream has a ‘feel’ about it - you kind of know where they might be 😀

Bonners - what wonderful spots!

I’ve not seen Siskin for ages....

I come from an entire family of obsessive dipper watchers. Whenever we are near a suitable stream we *have* to check. You definitely get a feel for what prime dipper real estate is :-)

'Dipper on demand' is the title of a rather fabulous piece of extremely limited edition artwork I own. Made by a regular contributor to this thread heart
