SPR wrote: @rhb what does your HR data say about your fitness? Strained is HRV related. Unproductive means your VO2 Max is decreasing. Is that what you're seeing in the Garmin data? HR is ok rhr ave is consistent (48bpm), my top hr has been lower as no intensity. HRV is mostly green dots, albeit lower 50ish rather than 54ish pre covid. V02 Max has been dropping, 64 to 61 so far. |

Garmin race predictor gives me 25:04 for a 5k. I ran a 26:30 at a flat parkrun last weekend BUT: I’ve only been back to regular running for about 3 months (twice per week) That was my first time in that time that I’ve done anything at all beyond “easy” pace I was somewhat conservative on the pacing I’m not sure if I could quite go 25 minutes but I doubt if that prediction a million miles off. Any prediction beyond that distance, though, is absolutely pie in the sky! My longest run has been about 7km. |

Well the unproductive is correct but sounds like it's a health issue rather than training. Your HRV must have dropped to low when it said strained (even if it was just for one day) unless the Garmin made an error in status evaluation. I meant things like average HR on similar runs, beats per mile. If they show the same as VO2 Max then it's likely a case of getting healthy again. After my injury in September, I expected training status to not be very useful so I turned it off till 1 January. |

@rhb The other thing is the easy runs may not trigger a VO2 Max measurement but that doesn't mean you aren't doing the right thing which should pay off later. My watch VO2 Max has gone up pretty rapidly as I've added intensity in following a build period. |

HR being unachievable is interesting. What %age max is it wanting you to train at?

It's not the HR itself (85-90% max) that's unachievable. It's keeping it there for 10 minutes that I can't manage (I can maybe do about 60-90 seconds at that effort before my body gives up) |

What type of run is that for? If a standard base run, it suggests it hasn't got the right HR data or it is ignoring it which would be odd.

85-90 for 10 minutes is a bit of an ask. Weirdest HR I have ever seen today. Watch told me I'd averaged 148, ending on 152, in the fastest parkrun I've run since December, but gave me a recovery HR that made it clear the HR was actually over 180 at the finish line. And the RR interval log showed something much more sensible. Puzzled. Either the Tickr Fit is sending sensible RR but garbage HR (which on that is just 60/RR anyway), or the watch is scrambling it, possibly by mixing in WHR, though the file doesn't show it using WHR at any point. 😕 Pic is HR logged and HR calculated from the RR values. |
