Not sure you'd even need to go to the Peak District?

It's funny that we have the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales, the North Pennines AONB and the Northumberland NP covering the rest of the Pennines, but that area of the South Pennines from Colne/Skipton down to Saddleworth/Holmfirth isn't considered as anything special. It's no less wild or beautiful.

[Cerretonia - absolutely agree. The Forest of Bowland is a bit of a hidden treasure, as is the Calder Valley area. Infact the OL21 OS map is one of my most used! Love it round there :-) ].

[Yes, I always think it best to keep quiet about the Forest of Bowland, let the tourist hordes drive past on their way to the Lake District :-) ]

I didn't even know that existed Mushroom! We live near Holmfirth (very near Upperthong :-) ) and moved here from Rossendale, so I don't really have an excuse.

Drifting towards that area to move to when we finally leave here.
Just too far from various elderly relatives at the moment though

Good for watching Riddlesden CC.

My friend's parents lived in one of the houses right to the canal in the main bit of Riddlesden. The bottom of their garden was literally the canal.
