Yes, but I think (well at least in the Midlands) you have to complete the (in my case) Midlands x-country champs to qualify.

Nationals is OPEN for sure.
When it comes to XC everyone goes faster in spikes even the slow people

You need assorted length spikes, Kieren and you change them according to the muddiness and terrain. 6mm or 9mm are the standard lengths and suffice for most course, although one course I ran last year needed 15mm...!

be careful with 12s and 15s though as if there is any hard ground they will bend. Checking with a few people and I have discovered 9s are popular in the midfoot with 12s at the front for climbs
