It's ridiculous to baulk at German manufactured tanks being used by Ukrainian forces against the Russians, because of a war that ended over 70 years ago.
They won't be sporting swasikas and crewed by the SS for crying out loud, It's just making use of the best available equipment.
People throwing this idea that some how it's morally wrong are either Putin fanboys or seriously need to give their head a wobble. FFS

The German constitution says it’s for defensive purposes only. A legal grey area I think best left to the experts not the armchair generals with the bravery of being out of range

*sigh* 1) that would be the German army, not German made equipment. The German army may well have no involvement in this.
2) Even if, which it does not include arms manufacture then supplying Ukraine with this equipment, seeing as they are the ones invaded is ... checks notes.... for defensive purposes.
So no, not a grey area at all unless you feel Putins illegal annexations are legitimate, do you think that?

Or, indeed, the folks who think the best solution is for Ukraine to hoist the white flag.

Not sure what the best solution is, but definitely not Ukraine hoisting the white flag. Think we have some scary times ahead though when Russia finally accepts it can't win a 'conventional' war.

Sigh. Talk about stating the bloody obvious...
When I visited Germany in the 70s and 80s, a lot of (West) German family conversation was about their real fear that Russian tanks could come across the border at the drop of a hat and how they could be well into West Germany within hours. I suspect that for a lot of people those memories and fears of the Cold War remain. I wonder too whether the public opinion now is affected by the fact that a large part of the population lived in the DDR for many years and may not have quite the same western view of all this that we think they might have. The Fulda gap. This is a major change in German post-war doctrine, sending equipment to war zones. Hope it’s worth the fall out

No.
I’ll concede to your undoubted expertise on the German constitution too. All these escalations are dangerous for the planet. Both Russia and NATO have imperialistic designs here

I get the feeling one of the two parties designs are a bit stronger than the other
Rambo is my usual go to when a scrap breaks out and it wasn’t NATO building up a huge army round Russia while all the time denying it

*sigh* once more, maybe in crayon the only escalation was when Russia invaded Ukraine owing to its leaders paranoia or congenital madness. inching towards kittening on 2 threads
