So, from another thread i did. I’m not so interested in the speed aspect, but more the aspect of less “strain” on the legs and feet on longer runs.
Apparently thees supers shoes are more gentle to the body as well.
Any thoughts on a good pair to choose for this?

bowman - I certainly felt like there was a benefit of running sessions in a 4% versus other more regular training shoes. I'm not sure that I could quantify it completely, it's more of a feeling that I recovered faster / would have less DOMS the next day.
I still use my old and really battered 4% for a lot of training runs. I also have Hoka Rocket X, less sure of the effect for those tbh.

bowman - I think the feeling of less beat up legs after long/hard runs may be more about the foam than the carbon plate.
Many ( though not all ) of the "super shoes" use new foams that are an improvement on the standard EVA that had been used for many years. These foams are generally some form of pebax or peba - Nike call theirs ZoomX, NB - Fuelcell, Saucony - PWRRUN, Adidas - Lightstrike Pro. Notably Hoka's carbon plated shoes ( Carbon X2 and Rocket X ) are still using standard EVA.
What shoes do you run in at the moment ? I remember when I first used Hokas many years ago, yes it was just EVA ( because that's all there was at the time ) but there was more of it than most other shoes at the time, and the recovery from 20 mile runs was certainly quicker than "standard" midsole depth shoes.
There's not many around, but you can get non-plated shoes that use the new super foams - eg Nike Invincible. One of these ( or just a thick EVA midsole, eg Hoka Rincon or Hoka Clifton, etc ) may have the effect you're looking for (assuming you're not already this type of shoe), without having to spend the extra that carbon plated shoes cost.

I think the Saucony Endorphin Speed also use their high end foam without the carbon plate found in the Pro. They also get excellent reviews from Seth James De Moor on Youtube and he tests/reviews pretty much every shoe on the market. I have the Pro and they are a good shoe. Don't think they have the speed of the Vaporfly but they are a good fit and feel good to run in

I have the Endorphin Speed as a relatively new purchase. Oddly, it’s felt like they needed breaking in a bit but I’m enjoying them now. Good shout from Tizer there.

I'm really enjoying my Saucony Endorphin Shifts which I got for precisely this purpose, minimising the trashing of my legs from hard effort sessions. I have the Pros as well, for racing.

Actually it was the marathon. Just seen this on the Elite Athletics Thread :
“Wow 😱 Ethiopia’s Derara Hurisa won the Vienna Marathon this morning in 2:09:22 & has now been disqualified for using non compliant @WorldAthletics shoes. He ran in the Adidas Adizero Prime X which is thicker than 40mm. 2nd placed wore the Adizero Adios Pro 2 & now the winner“
