I've only just realised (or maybe I'd forgotten) that the dragonfly doesn't have a carbon plate (the Victory does, along with the Zoom Air unit in the forefoot). Hard to find details but it possibly has a full length pebax plate in addition to the normal spike plate? Too expensive to cut up in the name of research ;-)

They are bouncy, very strange feeling for spikes.

That said ran 3 x 6 x 200 off 40 seconds all 37 - 40 seconds

Controlled obviously but interesting to note roughly the same speed I was running off twice the recovery.

I have a 3k on the 11th and have entered 8 and 15 at BMAF on the 22nd August

We shall see

That's the Victory (thought you'd gone for dragonfly), they are supposed to be rapid and the differences you've noted from your session are interesting.

The air pouch under forefoot must feel weird, guess that along with the plate = the bounce.

How do you find them in terms of aggressiveness and how far would you run in them?

I've just ordered a pair of Asics Metaspeed Sky (why these names all so looong?). I've had all the Nikes from the OG 4% to the Alphafly, so it will be interesting to compare.

I won a pair of On Cloud Booms in a race. As reviews hadn't been that great, I wasn't expecting a lot from them, but I could swear actually they feel faster than my Saucony Endorphin Pros, at least over the short distance stuff (up to 5K) I've tried them on so far. Maybe they just work better for my running style? Or maybe I'm just deluding myself, as I haven't actually done any rigorous testing.

Cool Gobi so pretty much as recommended.

The Dragons are here. I can see why they'd be faster for distance races straight away, they have the stiffness I'd associate with an MD spike combined with more cushioning than most LD spikes. The stiffness does feel 'scary' like in an MD spike (I race on LD spikes as I've been wary of achilles issues from MD spikes). Definitely feels like they have some pop to them walking around in them.

Real newbie question here... I mentioned I had bought my first pair of spikes, which I will plan to wear on Sunday for an 800m. I've never run in spikes, though, and cannot get access to a track before Sunday. So given that I need to get used to running in these things before trying them out in a race, is there any surface I could try them out on which would allow me to get a feel for them?
