Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Looks like the competition are slowly catching up with the Vaporfly.

Saucony Endorphin Pro just announced for next spring - pebax foam, with a curved carbon plate ! Sounds familiar ;-)

Slightly heavier, but looks as if it would be a bit more stable with a wider footprint. Only $200 so cheaper than Vaporfly

I'm with @puzzler on the heel drop. I like the idea of these shoes, but I've always run in low, almost flat heel drop shoes and have real trouble adapting to anything else. I guess that once I'm back to fitness I'll be trying some Hoka Carbon X since they're only 5mm drop.

Those Saucony's also seem to be quite stacked at the heel

All depends on if they actually work. They're throwing a lot stuff at this which if done wrong won't be faster

The Reebok Floatride Fast Pro are a simple racing flat, they just uses Pebax cushioning. Therefore if the cushioning is better (which I think is confirmed), then it will be a better racing flat than previous simple racing flats.

NB 5280s are also getting highly rated for milers / 5k road racers.

Clare just to go back to your original question / thoughts about getting the ZF to complement the VF. That's what I did (I have Peg Turbo as well) and I'm not sure that I will / would again - the ZF is a poor relation to the VF (and the Peg Turbo just feels like any other Nike shoe) so in my view you're just as well running harder sessions etc in adidas or other shoes you've already got in the cupboard. The race day magic of the VF will always be there :-)

Re the NB 5280, I note that RTR say it's a toss up with it and the Reebok Floatride Fast Pro in regards to which to use on track or road miles/ 5k. That fits with my thoughts in terms of the formula needing to be perfect for the additions to make a good bit of difference on top of the cushioning.

On track I'd use spikes anyway.

I run in spikes on a track. Though I do wonder why sometimes; I've never consciously noticed a lack of adhesion when I've occasionally run on the track in my normal runners. No doubt at elite speeds it truly is a necessity, and especially at sprint speeds. Though they are a "stiffer" shoe so I'm guessing I get benefit from the track surface etc which is the real purpose of spikes at my ability level.

Larks - I raced track this year and used the 4% in my 800 and 1500, maybe next year I will run an 800 in spikes or at least do a couple of track sessions 1 in spikes 1 in 4 %

I run in LD spikes. I have the New Balance 5000.

I did consider getting some MD spikes last year and actually bought them to test fit. I decided against when my achilles was grumbling earlier in the season so played it safe.
