I thought the only difference between the Zoom Fly 3 and Zoom Fly Flyknit ( which were effectively the Zoom Fly 2 ) was the upper and the outsole ? The 3 is reportedly 0.5oz heavier than the flyknit

They both have React Foam midsole and the carbon plate. The Flyknit obviously has a flyknit upper, whereas the 3 has what they call a vaporweave upper which is sort of translucent and doesn't absorb any moisture unlike the flyknit material

K5 the ZF flyknit feels nothing like the 4% to me though which is why i assumed it didn't have the plate.

All the Zoom Fly versions have had a plate - v1 was "carbon infused plastic" while v2 and v3 are carbon ( although slightly smaller than the one in the 4% and Next% ).

The main difference between the Fly and the 4% and Next% is the foam - ZoomX ( a form of pebax foam ) in the 4% and Next%, Lunarlon in the Fly v1 and React in the Fly v2 and v3

There seem to be a bunch of different uppers but I'm sure they don't really matter for performance. I have a zoom fly with a tongue and my wife's variety of these is a flyknit weave. Neither of them is a patch on the VF for running fast!

exactly my point jda, i actually consider the ZF FK to be a easy running - tempo type shoe

Don't worry Clare it sounds like you've got the super-fast ones :-) The zoom don't feel particularly special IMO, they are just a bit thick-soled though pleasant enough for running in at any speed. Whereas the VF are wildly unlike any other shoe I've ever worn.

I just bought the ZF Flyknits as they were cheap and Baz / Gobi liked them. I like them. No idea if they make me faster, but I wear them for races just as a change to wearing my normal runners. They're fine and feel bouncy is about all I can input!
