Wtaf?! Exoskeleton. Madness!
Most important thing is I'm not injured at the moment. And I always enjoy that! 10 miles yesterday, 12 min/mile average, through woods with nettles, stopping to take pictures of mushrooms to send to my grandson. A bit of a quicker parkrun or 10K or half marathon is bonus. Running with friends, running in beautiful countryside, using my heart and lungs and bones and muscles and hopefully staying as strong as possible into old age, that's what it's all about, I think. G

I would be happy 20:11 these days.
I have started to see holyrood as my new parkrun as that’s an up and down challenge and I can test progress against my pb there. I saw some improvement at the weekend but four seconds off my time at the inaugural run
I do have Larkin’s time as a target but also I do have a 20:11 on that course from great winter run days which I will never trouble.

I saw that you were running that one again - it's a good tactical challenge; get the hill right and you're on for a good time, get it wrong and you're on your knees with 2 miles to go, or 40s outside your time with no chance of getting it back.
I was very, very lucky I got the pacing right for the climb. I had zero idea of how steep or how long it was, but was lucky to have a youngster ahead of me to try to reel in (he was walking by the ice cream van by the pond at the top!)
I'm sure you'll smack my time down pretty swiftly with another few cracks.

I’m looking forward to having a crack at Holyrood some time. Maybe towards the end of the year I’ll have a few days in Edinburgh.

Larks. I need to knock some time off that climb in the first mile but not too much that impacts the next bit.
It is a different challenge to a flat 5k and in fact I don’t find that hanging on feeling in the last k that I wound elsewhere.
Jda. Let me know when in town and I will see if I can make it.

Not my cup of tea at all, Holyrood - tough old climb! But I'm sure I'll do it one day, just not for a time!
XC this weekend. Maybe. Now that's "proper" winter training. But I'll only do it if I'm not risking injury (again!) G

Crikey I've never done 19.11, and doubt I ever will (excepting my sub 19 minute 5k in the second half of a hilly 7 mile offroader - BUT that was all downhill).
21.13 for me at York at the weekend avg 6.48 pace, 30 seconds faster than last year, so going the right way, and Bazo let me know I'd beaten his time there, which I was surprised at, given he's sub 3.00 marathon capable, and I've only gone sub 3.20 once!
But it was good, as I started with the 22 minuter pacer and then decided to catch the 21 minute pacer instead and stuck with them until the last mile, just falling slightly off the back towards the end. Next stop sub 21, which shouldn't be too difficult hopefully.

Chris, I am not currently a sub 3 marathoner, in fact 3:20 would be a push !
My time at York was when I was not long back from injury and had done no speedwork !
HG, I am viewing Holyrood as my new benchmark time to PB against.

The bit I found hardest at Holyrood was as the descent levels out and there's a good 400m+ to the finish, including a gentle rise. It's the only event I've done where each mile starts with a different integer and yet I was pushing hard for every mile.
I saw that good run Chris - there's a sub 20 still in you I reckon

larks - perhaps, but the interesting thing was my 2012 19.41 5k was a 69% WAVA and the current one was a 70% WAVA, my record WAVA was 73% so that will probably need to get broken to go under 20 again.
