You were at the champs end and competing for podium places Lou though, so you might have been strongly encouraged to get the racer's shoes!?

The pacing thing is interesting. I got warned once for cheering in a clubmate during the relays (wasn't pacing them but ran near for 25m or so). If the winner has ever done relays they would know becuase the officials there are very hot on the rules. We've also been warned re: club vest design and an older version of our vests. I had no idea about those rules before then 😂
Maybe all runners should do area relays so they can learn the rules!

njo - I had to google that one, from what I read that's pain in the joints. As others have said I hope that some time resting will allow the inflammation to go down and you can get back to it. Do do some googling and make sure that it's not Morton's neuroma - that is something not to be messed with. Fingers crossed for you.
Just been speaking with a friend who ran Brighton. The mile markers were left in the same place as if the course had been set correctly and so it quickly became obvious that there was something wrong with the measurement. Apparently it was all fine at 9 miles and then the 10 mile marker came up at 10.4. Nightmare. Seems like it caused a lot of angst for the runners, particularly the pacers. He was running with the 3:45 pacers who decided that they had to speed up and meet their 3:45 contract. They did that quite quickly, broke up the pace group and ruined a lot of peoples race day. Shambles.....
Talking of shambles. A DNF for me at a local HM 8 days ago really smashed my confidence. Had a good long MP run on Saturday which has helped but I have pared my targets for the day back now. At least that's got my head back in the game and I'm still planning to be a little ahead of the sweep disco bus or whatever the plan is for the backmarkers this year

tbh G / Lou - there's almost no escape from the super shoe now. A lot of people are raving about the Saucony Endorphins and they come in cheaper than your average pair of Gel Nimbus 8,000,972 (or whatever version they are on now).
lark - tell us, tell us. I see you've been running. On plan?

I have the saucony shoes 😂 I'd been having some achilles trouble and these were recommended to me. I don't wear them all the time but they really have helped me keep training although I run no faster in them I get much less DOMs.

The running is definitely going OK so far. I've done 2m / 2m / 3m / 2m / 2m / 3m so nothing alarming and the pain that I've been getting whilst sitting and whilst starting running is decreasing - and decreasing the more I run.
So this week will be something similar - maybe max out at 4m!! If I get through that OK then I'll do something a bit more "normal" and try to get to a 10m run in a fortnight's time so that I can 9m/mile around the marathon.
I do feel like running is coming back - which is good! But early days...

oh, I have them too Curly (of course!) although I still do a lot of running my VF4% that are more shoegoo than original material now! Not in love with the Saucony right now but I have a plan that involves the kitchen scissors that I think will improve them.
lark - good to read, I think. Will be gutted if you beat my time on the day though!

I did do a parkrun at the weekend and sneaking under 24 mins was hard work. I wasn't trying properly hard (I had intended to cruise around but got competitive!) so I don't think I'll be pulling a rabbit out of the hat WW!

Seriously WW do you have your own shoe cupboard?!? I've not tried the Nikes as I'm still boycotting them as a brand.
Good to hear you are running a bit Larks.
