I don't quite know what to type lark so I've defaulted to what I'm feeling for you and that's frustration and a bit of sadness. I suppose we've all been there when we've had to give in to it and walk home but blimey it's horrible. At least you'll be sensible enough to take a week off and let it heal when some of us wouldn't

Ah, but will I be sensible enough to actually let it heal.

It's just life; bit of a shame but I've done 1 week of P&D, and still have 12 weeks to race week ;-)

2021 has been a bit annoying from that point of view, and I do wonder if the Fates are against me. Never mind, eh!

Sorry to hear that larks. Been out a month with a calf niggle (might have been a minor tear). Expected it to heal in 1-2 weeks, but just starting back now, 5 weeks later. And 3 mile, 4 mile, 4.5 mile very gradual build back up. *sigh* Hope yours heals quickly.

Can't work out whether it is a strain, just some inflamation, hamstring tendonitis, back pain etc. Should probably find some physio hands to have a look as it makes sitting a bit uncomfortable.

Larks. I hope it’s not similar to me although it does sound similar. Think mine was piriformis syndrome and I think stretching has. Been the main thing but it’s taken ages.

Booked in for some healing hands on Thursday. Funnily enough had self diagnosed piriformis, but the ache has moved around quite a bit in the last few days (for me, usually means something I can run though!)

Piriformis is a pain in the... sorry, obv joke. Had it for a while (can't remember how long ago. Was painful even sitting in car for prolonged period driving). Sympathise. However, think I got rid of mine reasonably quickly with stretch and self massage (the spikey ball in glute). Good luck.

On the plus side, at least I don't have to do 11m in the rain tonight after work :-)

Oh sorry to hear that Larks, frustrating but hopefully some patience and being sensible this week plus the massage will help so it doesn't affect you for too long.

First 'proper' road race for me yesterday for ages (since Manchester half in Oct 19!), the very local Leamington half marathon. It was traditionally hot and the course is hilly (through lovely countryside and villages - where I often choose to train in fact, apart from a few blots on the landscape where they are destroying the area for HS2!).

I had a good race, finishing in 1:36 which feels like a fair representation of where I'm at, rewarding me for the work I've put in but also highlighting I'm not near my previous best (and maybe never will be again - which is genuinely fine!). I'm quietly hopeful of a sub-3:30 attempt at London off the back of this, as long as my knee continues to allow me to train as I have been and to build up the miles a bit more.
