Well done Riggsy. A great PB. Sub 3 is in your sights. Did my longest run of 14 miles at the weekend since breaking my foot in February and I’m starting to feel stronger. Really looking forward to the winter training - sort of! Question for any who foam roll, how soon after a run do you do it, straight after, several hours or next day? Thanks |

WF - for me it's as soon as I can after the run as part of my little post-run stretching routine I'm also starting to feel pretty good again. Might have to look for a pre-Xmas race to keep me amused. |

Suffering more from CBA than calf issues at the moment. Weather was lovely last night for running (for me anyway) but at 8pm standing in front of the fire with the kids putting Taskmaster on the TV I found I lacked any motivation to leave the house! I'm sure I'll get over it. In other news, the end of my big toe has been sore in a "boney" sort of way ever since I pulled my calf. Starting to get annoying now. Nothing obviously wrong (e.g. ingrowing nail, bruise, etc etc), should probably get a doc to take a look at some point as it's been 6 weeks with no real change. Will try to run tonight as it fits in with kiddie duties. No promises though. |

Flash - I roll completely separate from my running. I do at least 3 times per week, when I'm in gym. I see it like massage, so to keep the muscles supple and iron out any knots that might be forming. You could do it immediately after a hard run or race, again like massage, would help to accelerate removal of toxins? And it can also be done as a muscle warm up, before an effort. But I don't bother with either. Glad you're feeling healed and strong again. Hills were beautiful on Sunday. Larks, mate, you need to come up my part of the world. Motivation is just being in beautiful places and the joy of being able to use shanks's pony to get up hill and down dale. Hope foot / toe sorts itself. My Saturday 20:46 parkrun on icy paths got me an 0.1 vSSS for a 4.2 SSS on Run Britain rankings, so I think that means it was an OK performance compared to conditions and other runners. Happy with that. I won't feel like a proper runner until I can go sub 20 parkrun again! ![]() |

what does Google say is wrong with your toe then Lark? I get toe pains from time-to-time but nothing that isn't to do with ill-fitting shoes or something else obvious....

Well done Riggsy on the 3.05. Thinking of making a parkrun comeback soon. We now own a running buggy - maiden voyage was fun. But too cold just now to subject the baby to it!! |

A good read which seems consistent with EK's reported character. I hadn't realised they'd dug up the road and re-laid it just to get the camber right at the roundabout!! Though it is also factually wrong too of course... "Kipchoge's record-breaking run was one part of a marathon masterclass over that October weekend which also featured his compatriot Brigid Kosgei breaking Paula Radcliffe's women's marathon world record by 81 seconds in Chicago. The common denominator in both those records? Nike's Vaporfly Next% shoe." He wasn't in the Next%s. |
