Good luck. The form filling for PIP is bloody awful.

I don't see these things as free money! I have paid about £250.000 into the system. A few months of £77/week and a few years of state pension, if it still exists in 10 years time, is not going to make a dent into those contributions...

Thanks JB, been postponing it! Just the pre-amble to get the form was bad enough. Mind, they may have a cancer section, like the form for the DWP I just dropped off at my GP... 24 pages but if you have cancer, all you do is tick the cancer box and say yes to being unable to work and no to other conditions and your dr fills in page 24... |

My immigration lawyer did try to get my contributions back, as a bargaining position, when the Home Office decided my income wasn't "genuine or effective" when I applied for permanent residency in 2017 and was refused! I eventually was granted Settled States in 2021, 2 days before the deadline! I am not surprised I developed cancer: 5 years of not knowing if you are allowed to stay in your own home, in the place you have lived in for 27 years... Stress!!! |

That sounds much more manageable. Mind you, even the PIP forms are a breeze compared to applying for Financial Deputyship, which is a real bureaucratic nightmare. |

P.S. the H.O. insisted I should have had private insurance, hence us asking contributions back. Imagine suddenly having a £250.000 pot to buy yourself a pension!!! |

It's applying to take over financial management of an adult who lacks capacity to make their own decisions. We had to apply last year for our son. It took about 11 months.

No idea Happy I paid my legal eagles to do that job for me. I did earn a very decent living as an art dealer for 19 years though... I am feeling better every day Happy. Thanks for asking. Postponed chemo to perk myself up first as I did not think I could handle it. Oncologist monday, then we decide... But my own "thing" seems to be working 🤞 |
