Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I've got 2 small annuities. For both I took the level option as I figure that in a couple of decades I won't be travelling and running several marathons a year and maybe not even having a car to pay for either.

Bit late to the party but retired in 2020, had a year of being Mum's carer then moved to SW Scotland from Norfolk and currently doing up a bungalow. Rob is not a retiree yet and is still working, it makes sense to have a toyboy LOL.
After a hiatus with fitness etc am back on it, training 6 days a week for an Autumn Marathon. I'm doing 3 runs a week, 4 gym sessions and daily dog walks.
I suppose DIY and gardening could be cross training too.:)

Reminded my Boss I only have 47 weeks to go until I can get my hands on my pensions.

He looked worried :-)

I doubt I'll be able to afford to go at 55 but if I'm still working at 60 I'll be gutted. Always paid into pensions and AVC's where ever I've worked so I'm hoping for a decent amount.

I've no idea how to get a forecast - something to look into around Christmas........maybe

About 21 weeks for me. Although in reality it’s 18-24 months away

Had a good call with the adviser earlier. Choice now do I spend £2k for his cash flow modelling which actually sounds like it may help guide some of our options.

I know, I couldn't believe Bazo how expensive these guys are. In the olden days they took all their money (as commission aka backhanders!) from the pension providers. Now it's all much fairer and above board but seems like money out of our pockets!

Right, I can read back on this, but is "Nest" the government pension provider any good if I wanted to start making big payments into? Again, I don't care about funds growing, just about them not getting smaller, there not being massive fees and basically getting the higher rate tax deduction! Thanks :-) G

Don’t know anything about NEST, HappyG, but I did end up putting some contributions when I had a brief spell of doing supply teaching through an agency in 2017. Maybe I should get in touch to try and get my money back.

Hope the meeting goes well, Pix.
