My DC pension pot has now lost £18k since the start of the year - £20k if you include the contributions I've made to it in that time. Still within my margins for retiring at the end of the year, but I am looking at possible ways to avoid digging into it too much early on, to give it time to recover. |

arbster I think it’s much simpler for me as I don’t plan TFC etc and so it’s 20x DB plus DC and on those calcs I have loads of room for growth and more contributions. Anyway, key thing is for the current office politics to sort themselves out and see what happens. Right now though given what’s happening it’s pretty difficult for me to perform my role. I can see a scenario where they decide it’s not required and quite frankly at 36 years service and almost 55 that would be a good outcome. However I can see what going on around me with others and a position may be engineered where I end up in a different role not of my choosing. Just need to keep plodding away. |

[I am so glad that my pension income comes from a DB scheme😅] Plus, DB pensions are a luxury not afforded to most who'll retire after the next 15 years or so. And I worry that publicly funded DB pensions will come under increasing pressure in coming years. |

So Dennis Waterman has rolled a six at age 74. Looking at my spreadsheets I’ll be *very* cross if that happens to me. Very cross. |

I'm also not counting on popping off at 74, although I'm simultaneously thinking, "If I run out of money and starve to death I'll have had a decent innings."

Definitely hoping for a few more years than that! And I think Mr Ness would say the same too! ![]() |
