We were chatting yesterday with a 75 year old Belgian woman who retired to the south of Spain 15 years ago. It appears that the desire to prioritise time over money as soon as it's practical to do so may be international even if it's not universal.

Yep - our experience is the same @Velociraptor. Our Conversar em português class has us as the only brits along with German, Belgian, Dutch, Swiss, Brazilian, Bolivian, Canadian and American members.

I've updated that @geordiegirl , I'll move it in the list when I'm not sitting on the sofa with a mug of tea

Thanks I’m ever hopeful I move it back the other way - I’m sure FOMO will fit in.

Question for your retireees. Mr gg finishes Friday as mentioned ^^ I would normally have suggested a meal out but can’t do that as I’m incapacitated at the moment. He is going to the office Friday I am aiming to make him a cake and have bought him a couple of little gifts and have a banner or two to put up. He is out on Friday with his colleagues do I invite parents over Saturday afternoon for a cuppa or give him an IOU booking for a meal when I’m mobile again. We may have friends over Saturday night i was thinking of delaying them a couple of weeks anyway. |

He never wants a fuss but don’t want to do nothing.

Give him an IOU gg until you’re recovered. Imagine feeling like you have today and knowing you’ve got 2 sets of parents coming round. I’m sure he will understand 😁

That’s a very good point thanks Jaks. And saves everyone fussing too.
