nice boys, nice. I remember the feelings of both relief & fear over the days that followed me coming out with my own plans. Let them wash over you - good days are ahead

I met a woman yesterday that’s husband went to bed one night at 54 & never woke up. Bugger new challenges at that age. |

Ally, my wife’s cousin went to bed early feeling ill aged 50 and never woke up. That does really make you think when something like that happens.

I look around and wonder who will blink first. There are half a dozen or so of us who are of the retirement age, some at the younger end, some at the older. I do wonder which of us will be first to go. None of us are irreplaceable, but we all have a niche and a lot of knowledge that will be hard to replace The problem is that it’s quite a small business now and we rely on a lot of contractors and third parties. Two or three of us deciding to go will be hard to deal with. There seems to be little thought to forward planning and no one has ever thought to ask me my plans. |

Did you contract your work out or take on third parties? That “the company” has never thought to ask you your plans (and, presumably have never asked your colleagues either) should tell you everything you need to know about its attitude to its employees (and loss of corporate memory seems to be regarded as “a good thing” nowadays). Get out, don’t look back and enjoy the rest of your life |
