Congratulations Greg. And top news Silvershadow I had to get up at more-or-less the usual time today, ar, they’re collecting the company car somewhere between 8 and 5. There’ll be time for lie-ins soon though |

And I have more flowers from WW this time. I don’t think there’ll be champagne though!

Congratulations to those who have made it! I am 52, so a few years off yet, but already starting to think about the future of not having to work for money. Mr S has said he’d like to finish by the time he’s 60 and I’d like to finish work around a similar time. Pensions wouldn’t kick in until 65/67, so that’s quite a gap to fill. I have what I’ve been told is a ‘good’ pension from 10 years with my first employer, and then basically a few other pots from different companies. Feels like I need a chat with a financial advisor to work out my overall ‘pension pot’ and the best way to make the most of it. How did you you get to grips with the financial side of deciding when to stop work? |

For me scribbler it was more mental health than affordability . I’m managing (just) on a lot less than my wages . I do know if not this year then definitely early next year I will have inheritance so that will be my cushion till I’m 67 - 6.5 years away.

Hello, TheScribbler Getting the actual numbers in front of you is a good starting point. Both your likely retirement income and your realistic expenditure. |
