I'd been thinking about giving up my team leader role but they would knock down my wage and make me support another partner....... I decided to just stick with it

What was your job? My end position was Management Information Executive. I worked my way up from Admin Assistant and Client Liaison Executive in the same company over the course of 18 years. I provided detailed reports to Account Managers to justify them using our company.
Who was your employer (anonymise it as "one of the big 5 retailers" or otherwise if you want)? One of the top Business Travel Management Companies in the UK
Did you like your job when you started or at some previous point? I thoroughly enjoyed each position, taken on more responsibility with each role.
Did you like it by the time you chose to retire? Yes but see next question.
Do you feel you retired later than you would like, about the right time (or hopefully unusual, but were you forced to retire earlier than you would have liked and wish you could have worked longer?) Retirement was kind of forced on me! I had no intention of retiring for at least another 5 years but Covid hit and business travel all but ceased and I was made redundant. At that point I was 8 months away from State Pension age and there was no chance of me getting a similar position in Business Travel and I had no heart to face further rejection applying for other jobs due to my age. Yes Ageism does exist unfortunately

Shit! Just got my payslip from NHS…was not expecting to pay tax. I have not filtered that into my monthly outgoings. Hopefully by end of the tax year in April it will all sort out.

You’ll get a rebate, but it will take a few months after the end of the tax year, LG.
