As per eL Bee's comment: I worked developing the same software suite for 40 years and felt a real sense of ownership, but post-retirement - haven't missed it at all. I let go without even realising it.

I have a scientific paper under review. I haven't bothered to look at the first set of review comments, which I was emailed about a couple of weeks ago. I suppose I ought to get round to it some time, but I really wouldn't lose any sleep if the paper sank without trace...it's hardly legacy-making stuff, just the last thing we bothered to do. |

As per eL Bee's comment: I worked developing the same software suite for 40 years and felt a real sense of ownership, but post-retirement - haven't missed it at all. I let go without even realising it. I worked on two similar drugs for at least half of my 25 year career, the second one launched just as I ‘retired’ the first time. I did care about it for a few months, but after a few post-leaving bits and pieces with patent laywers and the like I soon realised I really didn’t care that much! |

Odd isn’t it, the B4 job I was forced to take and now resigned from, is not going to be filled, they are using the hours to put with a B3 part time vacancy to make a WTE B3, so maybe they should have offered redundancy!

Sigh
Today is Day 100 of retirement for me; I can confirm that I do not miss a thing about work, and I'm glad we both managed to get out at the age of 55. Raising the pension access age to be always 10 years lower than state pension age - whilst encouraging folks to pump loads into their pensions - is a cynical way of keeping future generations longer at the grindstone. Bastards, the lot of them. |
