I've read "Portrait of the Artist...".
Has anyone (on this thread) read or even partially read Ulysses?

I gave up after about 20 pages. Too dense, too difficult. That might be one where an audiobook version with an Irish actor makes all the difference.

I have started The Salt Path.

I read Ulysses at Uni. It wasn't really a pleasant experience. I think McG is right about the audiobook. Didn't the BBC do a version a few years back?

I read Ulysses at university also - took me two days and the night in between. Felt a little spaced in the tutorial. Never felt the urge to reread. Dunno why.

I remember getting unreasonably irritated with the Nora Barnacle ‘stream of consciousness’ - might be because I’d been awake way too long, might be because it was nearly the end of the book and I wanted it to be over, might be because I found it completely unconvincing. And then I had to talk about it. 🙄

I think it will stay fairly low down on my list of priorities.

*pokes head in*

Funnily enough, I have also just started The Salt Path. We have tickets to see Raynor Winn on Saturday. Any questions you’d like us to ask?
