Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

It is quite a challenge for an actor to fit into an established set up and bring something new and original to it. Everyone has their own idea of what the Doctor should be and the character is flexible enough to allow that, but there will always be someone who says ‘that’s not right’.

True, but the beauty of the Doctor's role is that (bar saving the world from time-related stuff and aliens of varying flavours) each new Doctor is expected to be different so writers aren't constrained by "but this is way the Doctor would behave" as much as if this was just a new Sherlock etc.

Russell T., as returning executive producer and writer, imo has the most convincing credentials for casting, creative content - and the all-important hands on the purse strings too. My hope is that he'll be able to steady the ship [no pun intended] by tightening up the scriptwriting and direction of a series that 'eats' money for the SFX alone.

Always in the back of my mind is that the show is still targeted at ' a younger audience'. ;)

I hope RTD avoids falling back into the groan inducing "cliffhangers" - which almost always were resolved before the opening credits of the next episode, sometimes using Deus Ex Machine.

Watching these episodes now on catch-up, it just doesn't work :)

Dr Who fans might be interested in this book

Across Time and Space is a beautifully designed, 800-page paperback containing reviews of every televised Doctor Who story up to the present day. It is based on a blog called The Patient Centurion started by the writer Tony Cross in 2011, which now runs to over 200,000 words.

Well, that's not inspiring me to watch it. The usual dumbed down, over-dramatic style :-(
