It was hot and I was out of shape plus you hadn’t fully briefed us how steep it was ;-)

The story of the summer of 2020? v-publishing.co.uk If the book is anything like Ally's tweets it will be well worth a tenner.

I'd seen this but I hadn't realised until reading the stuff on the link that he's going ACW. I've often wondered about an ACW PB (I've wondered about adding it to my ACW BG) but never done anything about it or known anyone else who's attempted one. One of the bits that I always thought would be an issue is the descent to Llanberis down the concrete covers on the quarry incline (which is essentially one long uniform steep descent with no change of angle on a surface without great grip characteristics) . He seems to think it will be easier than going up them. I'll be interested to see if he still thinks the same when he's done the descent after 3 legs, especially if it's at all wet/icy, given it will almost certainly be getting dark by then.

He is clearly a very good road runner with speed to spare but his previous history with the PB is three failed attempts in summer. So it's going to be interesting to see how he gets on and his motivation to honour his late friend Chris Smith is very laudable.
