Looks like I'm going to have to break into the £40 Mum gave me to get some groceries. Might manage just over a fiver for some essentials. Also need to put £10 into my current account as I'm nearly £6 overdrawn, leaving me with £25 until 26 Sept. I have a barbecue on Sunday where I'm taking home-made potato salad along and will get some apple juice (£3) as the hostess is pregnant. £2 for yoga next Monday (going with a friend who is cooking me tea), that takes me down to £20, not inc a few ingredients for the potato salad, so I should be able to managed. Life's expensive, isn't it? How do people afford things like ipads?

That is a good question RS. I managed to have a reasonably frugal day today: £12 train fares which I had to spend and 85p for an emergency chocolate bar. I think I'll take some with me tomorrow for the afternoon slump. There is a lidl very close to our building so I may find myself in there on the way to the train station to get some cheap essentials.

I have no idea RS... and those iPhones... you say but aren't they expensive> To which the reply is no, only £35 on my contract... well... that would be £25 a month more for me... which is £300 a year... that isn't exactly cheap I have a basic sim only contract and bought a waterproof/shockproof simple phone I can take cycling with me without worrying about it drowkning when it rains. £10 a month... I'd go pay as you go, but I need to have a contract for roaming abroad...

I pay £20 a month for my iphone but paid a premium up front for the actual phone and use my old Nokia for on the bike that I only take for emergencies. But then I don't buy chocolate or sweets and have even cut out crisp.

ipads ... £400 apparently. Quite a few people at work have them and they've paid for them, not the company.

Maybe I'm just on rubbish wages - I learn less than the national average.

It is a matter of priorities I reckon... In the past people on benefits used to complain about not being able to buy new shoes for their kids, yet they had the latest xbox game console and wide screen tv and the like...
