Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thank you, Rich, that looks more helpful than some of the kettlebell videos I've seen. Well, than any of them.

Squirrel, what a shame, you're really not having any luck at the mo, are you?

I actually don't know what a "pulled muscle" is. I don't think I've ever done it. I've had tightness in leg muscles, but usually chronic, rather than acute. I back off, stretch, roll, do some strengthening and it's usually OK.

I've had very tight, tender, sore pain in neck or shoulder or back, when I've tweaked something doing weights in gym or something - is that a pull? Those were only sorted by complete rest, sometimes physio. They were caused by not enough warm up, doing a movement that was unfamiliar, too much weight, poor technique or... just downright unluckiness?

Hope you get it sorted. :-) G

A pulled muscle - the same as a strain? i.e., overstretching or tearing of a muscle due to a sudden violent movement?

Yeah. I pulled the quad playing with a dog. ... but the calf was at the end of a run home after circuits.

Happy, I think I'll have to be hotter on the preventative like you are. I'm desperate to get back to running.

Hello

I've been lurking with interest as i've been back in the gym the last couple of weeks, after about 10 weeks off due to work and new baby commitments.

I tried dead lifting again today, nothing heavy but its been recommended to me, and the thing is, it seems to turn my legs to jelly.

Definitiely not my quads, also doesn't seem to hamstrings specifically but the insides of my upper legs..

Is this a common issue? Anybody else deadlifting at the moment?

Thanks

Sounds like your movement pattern isn't ideal lammo. You need to recruit the glutes for deadlifts (and squats and good mornings come to that) that's where the power comes from. Unfortunately lots of runners have underfiring glutes.

Right, I'm back in the games, but starting easy with this again:

Starts off super easy, but the 2nd to last exercise is really tough!
