I’ve added a club for The Green Runners if there are any more folk out there who have taken the pledge and joined them.

I read Damian Hall’s ‘We Can’t Run Away From This’ in 2022 and since then have been changing my approach to kit and use of stuff in general across all areas of life. I’ve always been a big ‘mender’ of things but actually seeing the stark numbers of waste and emissions for producing new kit is quite mind boggling.

It’s a good read and really shows how much waste there is and green washing within the running manufacturing industry.

I’ve added a link to the independent publishers in Sheffield - Vertebrate Publishing - in the info, as well as to The Green Runners.

Always worth checking out World of Books for second hand copies too.

This sounds eminently laudable. Pleased to see I already meet most of the criteria (non-flyer, veggie, recycler of most things, use kit til it dies).

I'd not heard of the Green Runners, so thanks for sharing!

Their general principals seem to fit with my approach to life (based around both sustainability and being a cheap skate), so I'll definitely read more.

Sure, but "only doing a few long-haul flights for my leisure activities" is an extremely low bar.
