Must admit, I'd forgotten they were red ones, and I think they're only supposed to get to 150cm so they've done really well. At least, the ones in the ground have. The ones I put in a big pot haven't been quite as energetic.

Velociraptor 8 Sep 5:59pm, 8 Sep 2024 70,828 posts	0 Velociraptor I have some small sunflowers opening at last And others that'll be touch and go if they manage to flower before the first frost. Three of my tall ones are still unbroken and flowering mightily. The tallest looks to be almost 7ft.

OK - this years Competition.

4. Disasters are to be posted so we can all laugh/commiserate/laugh at them

5. All forms of growing aids are allowed. There's no drug testing in this competition so if you find the Lance Armstrong of Sunflowers - grow it and win !

6. Bigleggy always wins ;-)

7. As the national flower of Ukraine is the Sunflower, the Russian Giant variety is banned.
