Doping is allowed is you really want to win that badly WW -but you're only cheating yourself. Personally mine get a splash of Tomato Feed once a week with their water

In that case the need to go outside and flower , let the bees do their thang and then wait for Toms to arrive :-) Once a week add Tomato feed to the water (at the right dilution) and hey presto , Bob's yer uncle and Fanny's yer aunt :-)

They've got flowers starting. I'm too scared to put them outside. Plus I like seeing them everyday

OK - so you need to self polinate the flowers. Place your finger underneath each flower and wiggle it fast a few times.

Tomato plants are one of natures cheats in that they get the bees to pollinate the flowers but don't give the bees any nectar in return

In the meantime........ 4 effin feet !!!! :-o

They're outside now, no self pollination required, but thanks for the tip.

I've a picture of my mil next to one of them. Think they were planted at Easter time :o

The boys didn't want their sunflowers planting at nursery, so they've come home, they've been reported from 7.9cm pots to 23cm pots, they've had stakes put in them and I'm doing the whole put them outside in the daytime. They've got thicker stems than any of mine but I still think they need looking after from slugs.

We are fortunate in that we have a team of 4 hedgehogs out on slug killing duties.

They are paid in mealworms and ironically sunflower seeds.

They are an awesome team.
