My sunflowers didn't germinate :-(. I have put pumpkin seeds in the same pots.

Doping is allowed is you really want to win that badly WW -but you're only cheating yourself. Personally mine get a splash of Tomato Feed once a week with their water

In that case the need to go outside and flower , let the bees do their thang and then wait for Toms to arrive Once a week add Tomato feed to the water (at the right dilution) and hey presto , Bob's yer uncle and Fanny's yer aunt

OK - so you need to self polinate the flowers. Place your finger underneath each flower and wiggle it fast a few times.
Tomato plants are one of natures cheats in that they get the bees to pollinate the flowers but don't give the bees any nectar in return
In the meantime........ 4 effin feet !!!!

They're outside now, no self pollination required, but thanks for the tip.
I've a picture of my mil next to one of them. Think they were planted at Easter time :o

Oh heck. Hubby has come home with a pumpkin today from work all for water aid. I now have this to nurture as he obviously wants to win!!

The boys didn't want their sunflowers planting at nursery, so they've come home, they've been reported from 7.9cm pots to 23cm pots, they've had stakes put in them and I'm doing the whole put them outside in the daytime. They've got thicker stems than any of mine but I still think they need looking after from slugs.

We are fortunate in that we have a team of 4 hedgehogs out on slug killing duties.
They are paid in mealworms and ironically sunflower seeds.
They are an awesome team.
