OK, here's a bit of an insight into the mysteries of Northern Soul:

It's often said that all the great NS tracks have glaring imperfections that more or less guaranteed they wouldn't become a commercial success and indeed that's true, I can think of any number of great records that have a stunning vocal but truly dreadful backing vocals and of course, vice versa. Quite often it's those imperfections that make the record, because the soul of the music is allowed to shine through ..... this is a long-winded way of saying you either get it or you don't.

Here's a very good example. An old friend of mine has just bought this, it's Northern Soul in absolutely every sense of the word. You can pick loads of faults with it, but the sum of the parts is a record that drips soul. He paid £600 for it btw. I hope you enjoy ......

Small change compared to some records. I was in the Rare Room last Sunday and a DJ finished his set with a record that must have been worth £20,000
