An old mate sent me a playlist this morning called "The Youth Club Special" and I know exactly what he means .... I guess you have to be of a certain age Who remembers this one? It's a bit poppy, but was big on the Northern Scene for a while.
Oh, and how about this one? Unusually for "real" soul music afficionados I'm quite fond of Diana Ross and the Supremes, they had a unique sound and I have always loved Diana's voice.
While we're on the subject of Motown, let me share a really esoteric bit of history with you:

Don't be fooled by that Motown label on the video, this was never released as a single - notice that Sony hold the recording rights? As I understand it, "Stormy" was an Motown album that was only released in Germany (?) and found fame on the rare soul scene in the early 2000s. It's good isn't it? I like it anyhow!
Bricomaligno, who has a YouTube channel has a comprehensive NS selection. Noticed they posted Stormy and I keep unearthing tracks on their channel.
You know who he is, right RS? "Bricomaligno" is Martin Barnfather (aka Soul Sam). He has a truly awesome collection of records, one of the very best. He must be in his 80s now and as far as I know he's a batchelor with little or no family. I hope he has a good plan in place for those records!
I thought I might indulge of my "other" passion for your entertainment
Feel free to post, but please do try and keep it soulful. No funk or ska please! I maintain an off-line list of all the tracks posted, if you would like a copy please feel free to fmail me.
