It's probably not relevant here, but has anyone heard that superb Yola track that's currently getting plays on Radio 2? "Dancing Away in Tears" is the title, it's superb.
And now for something completely different .... anyone into Chicano soul?? It's been keeping me out of trouble for the last few days. The current queen of the genre is Trish Toledo, try this:
I'm all over the place today. Just came across a track I haven't heard for years, it's time to open the door to the "broad church" if you know what I mean.
Out on a cycle ride with my mate Graham last week and we were passed by another rider with music blaring from a speaker. That's a bit of "Norther Soul" says Graham who promptly told me of his dance competition wins at Wigan Casino back in the day. He reckoned a good dancing night was a 4 to 6 t-shirt changes while a poor night only saw 2 changes. I've been riding with this chap for about 8 years and he continually stuns me with his tales of life experiences. i have printed off the play list for our next ride so he can let me know his thoughts and hope to add a few new selections.
Just popping in to say hello. I'm in the library without headphones, so can't listen. Internet at my flat has been very sporadic; I've just about given up on it. Next time I'm animal-sitting for friends, I'll try to finish listening to everything I've missed.
I've lost the thread of posting to the big 100. It's still in the back of my mind tho' and I will get to it.
I thought I might indulge of my "other" passion for your entertainment
Feel free to post, but please do try and keep it soulful. No funk or ska please! I maintain an off-line list of all the tracks posted, if you would like a copy please feel free to fmail me.
