Been indulging myself with a bit of "Modern Soul" at this end, it's nebulous term that in theory covers everything from 1970 to the present day and I wish there was something better, but that's what has been blasting from the Exile speakers and annoying all the neighbours.
Here's a couple from both ends of the spectrum ..... the first is inspired by recent talk about Philly soul and the O'Jays in particular, it's from 1976 and deserves to be played as loud as possible. Trust me on this, it's brilliant:
