You can feel console yourself with your reasonable electricity prices, when everyone else's gas bills are shooting through the roof rf!

I was shocked about how much my electricity price is going up by. At the moment am in a 3 bed semi-D. My annual electricity has been just under 400 GBP. Have been looking around and looks like it will go up to 1300 GBP..... without including the ASHP.

Just from the new pricing? Sh*t. That's a lot. It should come back down again (I know nothing about financial markets, but just thinking that as we phase out gas from the electricity market, coal is virtually gone, and more wind etc. it should get cheaper)? The hike at the moment is artificial because it's been kept low by the gov't price cap, so the big jump is a double whammy due to wholesale price steep rise and then removing the artificial cap? |

Yes if I fixed my rate. Am thinking to keep on a variable rate. Read somewhere that in April 2023 it should come back down. Anyway saw a site that says those who are wfh can claim a portion of utilities, rates, broadband and mortgage on their tax return

I am really glad I filled my tank with heating oil last week... Prices have more or less doubled since...

Some interesting things here theguardian.com I’ve certainly started a few of them over the past year. Eating less meat, reusing things, and trying to use tech as long as possible. I don’t really buy clothes either. It certainly helps being on a lower income than I used to be as it forces me to make better decisions for the environment. My heatings been off for the last week too. As for flying, I’ve got a trip to France next year but will aim to go by boat / train. Energy efficient measures will try to sort out when in my own place. |

Hey Fields - have you considered cycling to France via the Train. It is awesome. The ferry is very polluting the last time I looked. Worst than an air craft |
