I've seen a couple of old threads ... just wondering if anyone else is a regular user of the C2 erg?

My target for this year is 1m metres, in addition to 1,000 miles running.

Me! Messed about on one for a while but not really taken it seriously until the last couple of weeks. I'm building distance and time on the rower slowly over the next 8 weeks using a Lydiard styleeee approach.
1m metres is a big target. How's that going?

Yes, I use one as cross training.
Maybe once or twice a week.

I've done some on-the-water rowing in the past and wouldn't be without mine (in fact, I'm about to nip home at lunchtime for a row).

It comes in very handy for those days when you want to exercise but can't run due to an injury, of if there's ice on the pavements. Through the winter I do some online training and racing (via Oarbits), which keeps my interest up. My erg does tend to get a bit dusty in the summer when I can run more and and get out on my bike though. Even with a C-breeze fitted, it's a bit too sweaty to use once it gets warm.

1 million would be a good target for a year. I'm up over 12 milllion total metres now, but that's been accumulated over the past 25 years.

I've owned one since 2003 - rowed a bit at university too.

I try to use it once or twice a week, sometimes as part of a short routine at home. 14 mins of core, 12 mins HIIT on the C2 and then a good stretch.

For longer sessions I like the workout of the day suggestions concept2.co.uk to keep a bit of variety going. The best marathon training I ever managed included two rowing sessions per week, up to 10,000m a time.

Stuff I've been reading around rowing a marathon recommends a 6 month program & that you should be rowing 30,000 - 40,000 a week for 4 weeks before you start!

Not just me then ... phew, I thought I was weird.

1m metres sounds impressive but it's not so much really, equivalent to 3 sessions a week of about 45 minutes.

Although I've been using the C2 for 10 years, this year for the first time I've maintained a proper and gradual schedule. This one: thepeteplan.wordpress.com

Currently on week 11 ... I started week 1 on January 1 and reckon that if I work my way through the whole thing including the optional sessions at the rate of one every other day or so, it should keep me occupied pretty much to the end of the year!

Yeah, when you work out 1m metres is about 620 miles it doesn't sound quite as impressive. Still a decent distance though.

I'm starting on about 20k a week aiming to build to 30k then start a marathon program at 30k a week off 5 rows building to 80k.
