We've had a few days of 'orrible weather and my poor sunflowers have taken a proper battering. One (luckily not the tallest) is a goner I'm afraid, too many leaves broken off and almost completely uprooted. This morning I've fixed guy lines to the remaining ones in an effort to keep them standing. Seems to be working much better than simply tying to gutters, and they're way past being supported by canes. Bits of string pegged to the ground is the way to go :-) fingers crossed...

Sorry to hear that ATC. Thankfully I bashed broom handle type poles into the ground for a solid support. Extended these with canes initially but recently upgraded to a length of roofing latt strapped on with cable ties. More poles deployed for lateral support.

I think one of mine is just topping out with a flower head. Hope the others may have another set of leaves yet.

Here's my submissions:

Barely six feet tall, I'm afraid.

You can't really tell, but it's my own private grow-off, there's three plants, each a different variety.

One red, one from last year's seed, and one trades-description-violatingly described as "tallest" !

Could I get these ringers past the judges do you think . . . ?

I'm rather pleased with my tomatoes and cucumbers this year :-) :-)

Er, one of mine now seems to be growing sideways!! Too small a pot and too large a plant...
