Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Me too, LD! I always feel like a bit of a fish out of water in London but I’m getting better at it.
I’ve worked out how to get back to Marylebone from Barnes and roughly how long it will take me (thank goodness for tube and train apps!) so that I can tell Mr Woo which train I’ll be catching home.
I have also found a rucksack because I’m rubbish at travelling light and I keep thinking of things I might need with me - like my reading glasses to be able to see my phone 🙄
I’ll be fine once I get there - honest! ;)

Don't bother with Oyster or travelcards. Just use a contactless bank card. You can use those still, though but I think travelcards are more expensive.

For me travelling in from out of town, I'm sure a combined ticket/travelcard is cheaper.

Am I right in thinking contactless payments are capped at the cost of a travel card?

Capped at the Oyster daily limit, which I believe is less than a travelcard but not sure.

Combining a Network Railcard with a Day Travelcard I get a return from Reading and unlimited tubes & buses for about £16.

I resurrected my Oyster card and it still works. I'll need to top it up tomorrow though, hope I'll be able to do it at the station. I haven't got a clue how to get back to where I'm staying but I'm sure someone will help advise me tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that some of you have had to drop out for varying reasons, let's hope you'll be able to make another one in the future.
